Sgt. Robert Holly Ashton Harper

L/Sgt. Robert Holly Ashton Harper, formerly of the Royal Artillery, served with No.6 Troop of No.6 Commando from, at least, 8th August 1941.

On 16th November 1942, he was reported to have shot down an Italian Maachi 202 fighter when it had attacked Allerlick Aerodrome, Bône (Algeria).

Sgt. Robert Harper was Killed In Action (KIA) on 26th February 1943, aged 32 years, during the Battle for Steamroller Farm. 

He was the son of Holly and Kathleen Harper; and the husband of Ethel M. Harper, of Wath-upon-Dearne, Yorkshire.

Robert was laid to rest in Medez-El-Bab War Cemetery. Grave  4.D.7.
